Who am I
Kyle Loughman is a freelance Music Educator and Musician whose main instrument is the tuba, but has varying levels of proficiency on most wind instruments. Loughman has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Kennesaw State University where he studied primarily with Bernard Flythe and Dr. Debra Traficante. More recently, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Performance on Tuba from the University of Central Arkansas, where he studied primarily with Dr. Gail Robertson and had a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in the Music Theory Department under Dr. Stephanie Dickinson.
Loughman teaches low brass sectionals and lessons across the Metro Atlanta area at schools like Northview High School, Lanier High School, Atlanta International School, Webb Bridge Middle School, Sequoyah High School, and several others.
He has performed with many groups over the years including Tara Winds, Atlanta Wind Symphony, the Denis Winter Memorial Quintet, Conway Symphony Orchestra, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, and many others. While playing with these groups, Loughman has been fortunate to perform at many amazing venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Classic Center, University of Oklahoma, and the University of North Texas.
When he is able to, Loughman attends music conferences and festivals to further his knowledge on teaching and playing music such as the International Tuba Euphonium Conference, International Women’s Brass Conference, International Euphonium Tuba Festival, and several others. He also works as a Music Engraver for Pinnacle Brass Publications and Euphonium.com.
Loughman is very passionate about his teaching and uses both his knowledge of Music Theory, Education and Performance to help his students and is constantly learning so that he can help to lead his students towards becoming the best musicians they can be and also learn to love and enjoy making music!
